Dario Anselmo Will Bring Real-World Experience to MN House
Dario Anselmo brings his life experiences as businessman, civic leader, athlete, pilot, husband and father to his campaign as our GOP-endorsed candidate for MN House of Representatives for Edina (HD 49A).
Dario was born in Duluth and raised in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. He and his wife Jeanne have lived in Edina's Parkwood Knolls neighborhood for more than 15 years. Their three children all attend Edina Public Schools. As a dual working family (his wife is a full-time interior designer / florist), they appreciate first-hand the need for government to be a good steward of tax dollars. The family enjoys time outdoors with activities that include downhill ski racing, and bicycling summer and winter (road & fat bikes). Dario enjoys basketball with his sons, and coaching one son’s team. Dario has also been a licensed pilot for more than 30 years, since age 17, and through continued study and practice holds multiple ratings including instrument, multi-engine and seaplane.
Civic Involvement
Dario recognizes that Edina’s public schools are essential for the community’s quality of life, so he’s strengthened them by serving on the board of the Edina Education Fund and now on the board of Edina Give and Go.
In contrast to the current state representatives, Dario has attended the Edina Forums on airport noise each year. He’s able to listen with both a pilot’s and homeowner’s perspective. And he’s participated in the recent community meetings discussing the Braemar golf course proposed “winter wonderland” park expansion.
Dario understands how critical proper mental health support and services are to ensure all members of our communities thrive. Experience with a bipolar father led Dario to get involved locally, serving as president of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance for more than 10 years, and as a long time board member of the Minnesota Mental Health Association.

Dario Anselmo will bring real-world life experiences to the MN House. His stance on key issues is based on those experiences.
Economy: Dario intends to reduce the tax burden on Minnesota families, businesses and entrepreneurs, to encourage economic growth. Minnesota has the 7th highest sales tax rate and 3rd highest corporate income tax rate in the USA. To reduce state spending he’d work to end the state’s auto-pilot budgeting process by instituting a zero-based budgeting system. Government programs would have to make the case for funding every two years.
Education: As father of 3 school-aged children who attend public schools, Dario understands the importance of improving educational outcomes for students statewide. Policy changes will help ensure Minnesota children are able to meet the demands of a global economy. These include giving every family the opportunity to choose the best school for their child, and allowing schools to keep their best teachers based on performance, not seniority.
Energy & the Environment: Dario’s committed to a diversity-of-sources approach to meeting our energy needs. He points out that Minnesota is ahead of the curve with nuclear, wind and natural gas resources that make for cleaner, cheaper locally sourced energy. The market price for solar panels have come down 70% over the last 10 years making this form of energy much more cost effective.
Maintaining good water quality is a key environmental concern to Dario. This has little to do with pumping never-ending amounts of money into bloated state government agencies. Actions like encouraging use of economically viable cover crops will alleviate farm runoff while delivering returns for the producers. In urban areas, he points out the cumulative importance of household rain gardens in keeping pollutants out of the streams.
