Russo is Running to Put People Over Politics and Be a Voice for All of Eden Prairie

Eden Prairie, MN –

Today, Wendi Russo announced her candidacy for state representative in District 49B. Russo, a resident of Eden Prairie for over 20 years, works in broadcasting and owns a small business that empowers women to use their voice to make an impact in their communities.  

“Eden Prairie was chosen as ‘Best Place to live in America’ in 2010. I want to help restore the economic outlook for families and small businesses in Eden Prairie and the state of Minnesota through thoughtful and forward-thinking policies that put people first – not politics,” said Russo. “As a mom, a small business owner, and a long-time resident of Eden Prairie, I know that our community wants to see partisanship put aside.

I am running to make our community and state a better place and to be a voice for all of Eden Prairie.”

Russo is running for House to be a champion for families and small businesses who are struggling with the rising cost of living. Russo will advocate for smart fiscal policy to reduce taxes, support excellence in education with results-based learning, and will bolster public safety by supporting policies that incentivize more quality candidates to pursue a career in policing.

Russo is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a bachelor’s in business administration and has her broadcast journalism certification from UCLA. In her free time, Wendi enjoys volunteering and giving back to the underserved. She is a mentor with Breaking Free Shelter for human trafficking victims in St. Paul, mentors with The Dwelling Place shelter, is a Wish Granter with Make-a-Wish and Wishes and More, and is a board member of “American Hero Wishes”, granting wishes to wounded veterans.

She also serves as a board member of Minnesota African Fashion Week. Russo and her husband, Corrado, a small business owner and an officer with the Minneapolis Police Reserves, have one daughter, Chloe, who currently attends the University of Wisconsin - Madison and is a graduate of Eden Prairie High School.
